Fasting and Abstinence During Lent

As Catholic Christians we are asked to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.  Fasting means that we eat only one full meal on these 2 days and then for breakfast and lunch (or supper if lunch is our full meal) we only eat a partial meal i.e. for lunch instead of a sandwich, salad and soup perhaps we just have the salad and a piece of fruit.

We are also asked to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all Friday's druing the seaon of Lent.  That means we do not eat meat on those days.  We can have eggs, dairy products, produce etc.  Just not any meat.
